Meet the Founder

I began my career as an entry-level patent illustrator 27 years ago. I learned by taking notes, staying humble, asking questions, and paying close attention to the details. Over time, I came to understand that strong patent drawings require more than technical skill. They also require clear communication, reliability, and an understanding of what attorneys need from a drafting partner.

One lesson has stayed with me throughout my career: when something is unclear, ask. A quick question early can save time, prevent unnecessary revisions, and help ensure the drawings accurately support the application. I have also learned that deadlines move quickly, availability matters, and long-term relationships are everything in this industry.

I started 1303 Patent Drafting with the belief that quality should never be sacrificed for quantity. My goal was to build a company where each project receives careful attention, clear communication, and the level of service needed to support long-term client relationships.

The name “1303” comes from USPTO Form 1303, which is associated with a Notice of Allowance. I wanted a name that was unique, relevant to the patent industry, and connected to a positive milestone in the patent process.

Today, I remain personally involved in the work. I communicate directly with clients, review projects, prepare drawings, manage the team, and oversee quality control. That hands-on approach helps ensure each project receives the attention it deserves.

1303 Patent Drafting was built to give clients confidence that their drawings are being handled carefully, accurately, and by someone who understands the importance of the filing.
